Title: Regrets

Prompt: Round 3, Challenge 1. If you knew that this was your last night alive, what would you do?
Word Count: 192
If I knew that this would, perhaps, be my last night on this ship alive, I would possibly regret roads not taken. My training and life as a Companion barricades certain roads from being traveled.
My last night alive, one of the rituals I would go through would be saying my goodbyes to each of the crew. They have become more than merely crew--they have become a second family to me.
There would be hugs--a very brief pat on the back for Jayne, so he could hide in his bunk with more speed--and many tears.
I could only wish that my life were not cut so short that I would be able to say my goodbyes at all. Unlike Wash, who never even knew that his life would be over in a heartbeat.
At the last, if he were so inclined, (and if I were not dying of an incurable illness) I would wish that I could spend my final night in the company of Mal.
No words...no regrets. Just companionship.
Just making love in the light of the candles, as the wax slowly melted down the wick.
