Update, as of 4/14/2017: This group was active on Livejournal from February 15, 2006, through March 26, 2007. I have imported it here, merely for archiving purposes. No further posts are planned at this time.
Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...
Welcome to Big Damn Questions!
This community was partly inspired by
theatrical_muse. Also by
btvsats_20, and the utter lack of groups like this for Firefly/Serenity.
Before we get to the rules, here’s a bit from your maintainers, in an attempt to avoid any kind of wank, flaming, etc....
This is merely a disclaimer: All works posted to
big_damn_quests are fanworks, and no one is making a single penny or any sort of profit at all from the posting of the entries within this group.
This being Firefly, there *will* be both heterosexual and homosexual relationships written about/mentioned/whatever in this community. You will just have to deal with it.
And now, the rules of
big_damn_quests.
The rules are as follows:
-Simply pick a character from the Firefly universe. Any minor (ex: Saffron) or major (ex: Mal) character may be applied for on a month-by-month rotation. Every week a question will be posted to the group. As things rotate by month, all the characters will be back up for grabs at the beginning of each rotation. So if you missed signing up for your favorite character one month, you will still have more than a few chances to grab them.
-Please remember that only the maintainers will create new tags for the characters. If you are unsure of what a tag is, please click here for an explanation. Allowing the mods to be the only ones to make character tags prevents unwanted confusion. Just think of all the chaos if one person tagged “Mal”, and another “Malcolm,” and another “Reynolds.” Things could get very messy very quickly.
For example: If it was the first round and your character was Mal, then you would use the tags of Mal and Round 1. You’ll be able to keep track of which challenges you have or have not answered this way.
Please also tag your posts with your username; this will make it easier for both us and you to keep track of what you've done, or haven't done.
-You will not be penalized or have your character taken away if you don’t post the character response immediately. Of course, that doesn’t mean you may take over a month, either. Think of all the catch-up work!
-There is not a minimum word count needed in this group. Your character answer may be a short drabble; or, if your muse gives you more ideas than usual, it can be short story length.
-Please make sure your in-character answers are always behind an LJ cut. We don’t want to make Friends Lists hard to scroll through. Click here to learn how to LJ cut.
-And, finally, you are not required to create a separate journal for your in-character posts. If you want to create a separate journal anyway, that's fine; just let us know its username.
P.S. If you happen to think of a unique idea for one of the weekly challenges that has never been considered before, simply e-mail one of the mods. (
hopefulnebula or
calliopes_pen.) You will be credited as the person who thought it up. E-mails can be found inside this journal. Simply look to the right side of the page when you arrive.
Also, feel free to poke the mods with a sharp, yet tastefully non-lethal stick, if one or both of us forget about posting a challenge for a certain week.
